Description:
To a fine quality Vermont fireplace mantelpiece reported to have been from the St. Albans area of Vermont, period circa 1820-1830. The mantelshelf is of butterfly shape mounted with rich mouldings below. Two end tablets applied to the frieze contain half round neoclassic urns. The central tablet to the frieze is mounted with a shaped reeded device. A band course crosses the frieze and is mounted with reeded moulding. This also forms the capitals of half round columns which are mounted to the legs or jambs. Each column is turned and there are two per leg. Applied bases with ball trim and moulded sections support the columns. This mantel has been hand cleaned of all old paint buildup, small woodwork repairs made where necessary and a deep rich patina finish applied.
This mantel should be installed by your mechanic in accordance with all local fire and building codes.
