Description: To a rare and important Lancaster County, Pennsylvania neoclassic chimney breast of the circa 1790-1810 period. This unusual survival is richly carved with heart and swag devices. Also there is an applique of engaged circles to the three frieze tablets. The over mantel fitment is part of the mantel and retains the original carved pilasters and conice sections. The center of the overmantel was originaly plain plaster and part of the wall surface. The mantel has been hand scraped to reveal most of the original first and second coats of dark green paint. This is one of the finest examples that we have ever had in our folk art collection. Note: This mantel should be installed by your mechanic in accordance with all local fire and building codes.
