Description: I was told this was late 19th century Japanese; it's unquestionably bamboo and lacquered wood. This beautiful two-tier stand is 24-1/2" tall and, measuring between the top posts, 16" square. Each post is topped with an ivory button, one of which, on one of the small lower projections, is missing. As shown in the other picture, the wooden trays have lost their lustrous top coat and split over time, and the outer corners have experienced rough use--I've included a picture of the worst it gets, and all the damage is less noticeable when the trays are in place--but the bird and bonsai tree are still beautiful.
