Description:
Antique 19th. C Needlepoint from France set in an ornate gilt wood frame. A 17th. Century Cavalier courting a young lady is the subject for this needlework. Dashing he is! His flowing locks peek out from under his feather trimmed hat. His mustache has the perfect upward turn and his doublet is cinched at the waist. His breeches (I believe they were referred to as Rhinegraves) gather at the knee with lace frills below. Her silk dress flows as softly as her hair, a change from the dress in prior periods. The needle work is set in an ornate gilt wood frame. I feel this frame is original to the piece. I love the "character" of this frame; the wear and missing pieces only endear me to it more. The frame is tight and there are no lose pieces
Size: 11" X 9 1/2" or 29cm x 24cm Condition Good; several missing stitches from right lower black trim band; numerous chips to frame and wear
