Description:
This Empire stand has a very unique form and wonderful detailing. The marble top is original, but obviously would have had a back piece due to the two holes located near the back. The marble is in very good condition. There are two 6"long in the marble on the sides. This is not a structural problem and will not progress. Below are 2 elegantly ogee shaped drawers, which have their original working locks. Check out the incredible flame mahogany graining on the fronts and sides! The locks have their original key escutcheons. Notice the delicate beading between the drawers and the highly prized ripple moulding below the bottom drawer and sides. The drawers open and close smoothly. Two gracefully shaped and pierced carved pedestals support the stand. There is an ornately carved stretcher between. The finish is in excellent condition. The color and patina is highly desirable. Its size and form makes it adaptable for a variety of purposes such as an end table in living room or bedroom, a hall table or behind a sofa, to suggest a few.
