Description: Julia Arthur (1868-1950). Born Ida Lewis in Hamilton, Ontario, she began acting as a child. In April of 1893 she made her Broadway debut in Lady Windermere's Fan. She appeared in silent film in 1907 and in a total of ten films. Her last screen performance was in 1919 in a benefit film to aid victims of WWI. Her final Broadway performance was in 1921, playing Lady Macbeth opposite Lionel Barrymore. She died Julia Arthur Cheney in Boston in 1950 (age 81). Photo shows slight foxing.
