About Horse Statues in Old China

The horse is a symbol of power, prestige and rank in ancient China. In the past, most Chinese believed in afterlife, and therefore they would include many funerary objects for the deceased in their tomb. These funerary objects are usually tributes to notable people of rank and wealth and provided earthly comforts as they traveled to their afterlife. The richer you were, the more funerary objects you had. The Emperor of Qin Dynasty (221BC - 206BC) has over 6000 life-sized battle-ready terra-cotta warriors complete with weapons, carriages and horses in his tomb in Xian. This horse is a replica of a certain funerary object that is from the Han dynasty (106BC - 220AD).

USA domestic continental buyers of 48 states pay $58 shipping charge (buyers of Hawaii, Alaska, US Islands, and Canada pay extra shipping cost). Insurance and handling charges are included in the shipping cost.
