Description:
Patek Philippe is simply the best watch manufacturer in the world. They only make 2000 watches a year and every one is handmade. This square 18k solid gold watch, circa 1951, is in excellent running condition. Patek is classic style and elegance personified. This is the sort of watch you might just as easily see on the wrist of an elder statesman, ambassador, sports figure, or race car driver, not to mention royalty. The reference is #2488 and it is 18 jewel, with a silvered dial displaying the subsidiary seconds at the 6 o'clock position. Notice the beefy stylized trapezoid lugs and the beveled case edges. You can see the same model on page 129 of the Huber & Banbery book that was made for a Saudi sheik. Our watch doesn't have the enamel portrait of the sheik but it has everything else in spades. The case measures 27mm in width and 35mm lug to lug. The dial is a pearly silver that contrasts with the thin baton hands. Fully restored, triple signed and running like new it comes with a genuine crocodile strap, the original Patek marked crown and a one year warranty.
