Bronze Builders Plate from U.S.S. APL-43 by Willamette Iron & Steel Corp of Portland, Ore.. Dated 1945. APL-43 was a "Barracks Craft" launched 27 February 1945. Barracks Craft were temporary billeting for sailors in transit from one duty station to another or when their ship's were undergoing extensive repairs. The builders plate measures 12" X 24" and weighs approx. 22 lbs... It is in wonderful condition. The ship measured 261 ft. in length and had a beam of 49 feet. Included with the plate are two photos of the vessel, a "Plan of the Day" for 2 March 1946 while the vessel was on the Whangpoo River in Shanghai, China, and a complete record of the vessel specifications. This is a wonderful piece of Naval history
