Illustrated with copies of historic letters and more than fifty highly finished steel engravings from original pictures by Leutze, Weir, Powell, Chappel and other American artists (see complete list below). Among them is the one exemplifying female patriotism showing Elizabeth Maxwell Steele giving a discouraged General Greene two bags of coins.
