Tissot is a great Swiss brand that we here at Father Time Antiques revere. In fact our founder wears a stainless steel Tissot Chronograph on his wrist on a daily basis. This particular Tissot has been so well cared for since the early 1950's that it is in near mint condition. The round stainless steel case measures 32mm in diameter by 42mm lug to lug. A great size for your wrist and easy to read. Take a look at the "Zoom-In" views of the Art Deco case lugs...they are really spectacular. The screw-down case back and crown are gasketed in order to exclude any dirt and moisture that may come your way unexpectedly.
The automatic (self-winding) movement is in pristine condition and ticking away like the day it was made. As a matter of fact our head watchmaker called me over to take a look at the excellent timing pattern that this Tissot was producing as it came out of the timing machine. He was showing off his expertise as well as admiring what a fine timepiece we were both looking at.
The ultimate crowning glory of this Tissot is its dial. Beautifully silvered and textured it exudes the soft glow of a finely crafted timepiece. You will want to take it in your hand for a closer look as did each and everyone of us here at Father Time Antiques. What you will see is a textured band that stands proud of the dial surface and surrounds the dial center. The dial center has a smooth silvered ground displaying the applied and silvered "Tissot" logo atop the "automatic" designation. The banded and textured ring bisects the large seconds bit at the 6 o'clock position and contains an applied double arrow marker at the 12 o'clock position with single markers at the 3 & 9 o'clock positions. All of the markers, as well as the silvered hands, have their original luminous material intact and perfectly aged to a mellow coffee color. A sure indication of originality.
