Description:
This walnut Victorian marble top stand is referred to as a picture frame table. This is due to the wooden frame encircling the marble top. Picture frame marble top tables are less common - especially ones that have a turtle top shape, such as this one. The brown marble is original and in very good condition. There are some slight imperfections in the marble, but only noticeable upon very close inspection. The top frame is thickly moulded and has a wonderful turtle top shape. The table skirt is carved on all 4 sides with applied rosettes. The tall fluted trumpet shaped legs are elegantly turned. One leg has 3 small areas of carving and the skirt has 2 carvings missing. Notice the curvaceous stretcher and the tall boldly turned finial. The table rests on its original casters. The finish is in very good condition. The table is tight and sound.
