Description:
Vintage Bird's Quality red and black wool blanket, manufactured by the Bird Woolen Co. (1872-1953) of Bracebridge, Ontario, Canada, circa early 50's or earlier. This very thick, heavy, and warm blanket measures about 73.5 inches by 55-57 inches. It weighs almost 6 pounds. The blanket is red with 2 wide black stripes and blue edge stitching. The black silky tag is attached. It has the Bird Woolen Co. logo with a rooster and a hen standing on "BIRD'S PURE WOOL", "BIRD'S QUALITY --- VIRGIN WOOL, MOTHPROOF", "The BIRD WOOLEN MILL Co. Ltd", and "BRACEBRIDGE, ONT." Condition is very good. The blanket a couple of faded spots on one side and a small darkened area on the other side. The edge stitching is broken in one area. The blanket has a wonderful soft, cushy feel. It would make a great lodge, camp, or winter blanket, for display or for use. Please refer to the 4 photographs for appearance and condition.
