ZAANDAM CLOCK / ZAANSE CLOCK
The Zaandam clock, also known as the Zaanse clock or Zaanseklok, is a traditional style of Dutch pendulum wall clock that originated in the cities of Zaandam and Zaanse, located outside of Amsterdam in The Netherlands. The Zaandam clock is identified by its ornately carved oak, mahogany or walnut case, brass panels, the figure of Atlas holding the weight of the world on his shoulders at the top, and the motto Nu Eick Syn Sin, which means, To Each His Own.
Another popular traditional style of Dutch clock is the Frisian clock, or Friese Stoelklok, which is even more heavily decorated, customarily with hand-painted scenes of the Dutch countryside, a smiling moon face, or ships at sea that may bob back and forth in time with the ticks.

Comment:
This popular Zaanse style of Dutch wall clocks features the Greek mythological figure of Atlas holding the world at the top. This would be a great addition to your collection! It is nice and heavy!

Condition:
GOOD
In overall good condition. Antique and vintage items by their very nature are used items and will show signs of normal wear due to age and use. As we define 'good condition' relative to the stated age of the piece, we would expect to see 'character marks' consistent with that age and could include nicks or dings to a wooden or metal object, wear to a painted surface, speckling on a mirror, crazing or manufacturer?s glaze skips in ceramic finish, wear to a label, and some original decorative trim may be missing. If ceramic/porcelain restoration has been done, it is of museum-quality so that it is hardly discernable and would be mentioned in the listing. 'Good condition' would not include chips or cracks in any glass or ceramic item.
