Description:
E.N. Welch produced a line of superior quality clocks which were named for famous opera singers of the day. Angelina Patti was one of these so the clocks of this style have become known generically as "Pattis". This particular model was named for Pauline Lucca whose operetic fame was world-wide during the 1930's. The case is polished Rosewood and includes an extra fancy pendulum. The clock was obviously owned by someone who took very good care of it. Although there are several small chips around the base of the three wood finials, all three look to be original. There is a complete paper label on the back of the clock (see photograph), and near perfect glasses in the door and sides. Even the winding key bears the EN Welch inscription. Inside the case is the original black flocked paper. A nickled bell and dial ring complete the high quality and good preservation on this fine clock. SPECIAL NOTE: The letters "VP" in the name LUCCA VP, stand for "Visible Pendulum".
